Meet the

Team

As avid skiers/boarders this duo decided it was time to do something new with their careers and be in a place where they can thrive together – in all aspects of life. Hence, Summit Naturopathic was born.

Summit Naturopathic is a multi-disciplinary clinic that specializes in cardiometabolic health and bioidentical hormone therapies (bHRT) for both men & women. We use a natural but aggressive approach in providing protection from chronic diseases.

Our Mission:

To guide our patients to live their longest and healthiest lives in a body that they love. Feel better, look better and always perform at your very best! #enjoytheride

Dr. Karla Alberts ND

CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
CSCS | NSCA | CO-FOUNDER

Hailing from Chicago and raised in a military family, Dr. Alberts was well-balanced to undertake life’s adventures. In 2007, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (sports and exercise science) from the University of Hawaii at Mañoa and obtained certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS/NSCA). While living the island life, Karla enjoyed the cultural diversity, beautiful beaches, and performing in the UH concert band, marching band and drumline. The University helped pay her school tuition under a music scholarship.

Dr. Alberts then traveled to the desert, earning her Naturopathic medical degree and graduating from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ in 2012. She immediately launched her professional career with a focus in hormone therapy, as she recognized that this specialized medicine is not widely taught in medical institutions.

From the Midwest US to the Pacific Ocean to the desert, Dr. Alberts now enjoys the mountain life in the beautiful Lake Tahoe/Truckee area and is excited to be grounded there in the healthcare community. Much like her passion for medicine, she enjoys snowboarding, walking the serene outdoor hiking trails, crafts and keto cooking and baking. She continues her pursuit of self-development as a certified Heroic Coach, one of the most elite self-development programs in the world.

Approaching new horizons with medicine, Dr. Alberts focuses on cardiometabolic health, which compliments her work in hormone therapy. Acknowledging that cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline are some of the biggest health pandemics we all face, Dr. Alberts has recently started her training in the early detection and reversal of cognitive decline with Dr. Dale Bredesen’s ReCODE program.

From an early age, Dr. Alberts has held a passion for physical health and strength. As is now generally well understood, exercise is the only recognized consistent metric associated with a lower risk of not only Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular disease but all chronic diseases.

Continuing her pursuit of the importance of the condition of the physical body, Dr. Alberts is currently working towards becoming a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (CEP/ASCM). This will elevate her to make extremely specialized and specific exercise prescriptions for patients to improve their parameters of health, and to lower their risk of all chronic diseases.
